04/30/2010 - Foxborough, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman thinks his team just needs some confidence, but there's only one way to get that.
"Right now we're not getting the results and results build confidence." the FC Dallas coach said Wednesday, after a 4-2 loss to D.C. United in the U.S. Open Cup.
FC Dallas is winless through four MLS matches and lost 4-2 to D.C. United, the other winless club in league play, with a chance to build some confidence for its trip to the New England Revolution on Saturday at Gillette Stadium.
Despite falling to United and being eliminated from the Cup, Hyndman thinks it gives his side a good chance to focus on MLS and pick up points there.
Dallas has earned three draws in its first four matches, much better than D.C. and its four straight losses to open the season. And with its only loss coming to early Eastern Conference leader Red Bull New York, a few adjustments could be the difference.
"It seemed like whenever we did something wrong we paid for it," Hyndman said after the United match. "For us it's been mistakes costing us goals."
Dallas has not had as much trouble scoring, as it has at least one goal in all of its games. Dallas tied Houston 1-1, both Columbus and Seattle 2-2, and lost 2-1 to New York.
"If we had better execution it might have been a different ending," Hyndman said after Wednesday's match, which holds true for all four MLS games as well.
Jeff Cunningham, who led MLS with 17 goals last season, leads the club so far this season with two goals. Eric Avila, Atiba Harris and Dax McCarty each have one.
New England has picked up a pair of wins this season, but is winless in three matches against Western Conference opponents. In addition, the Revolution will be without midfielder Shalrie Joseph, who missed four of the first give games through injury and took a leave of absence from the team this week.
Joseph was the team's captain in his lone start, a 4-1 win over Toronto FC. In the four games Joseph didn't play, New England only scored in one - a 2-0 win over four-loss D.C. United.
New England will try to snap its two-game losing streak at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, but coach Steve Nicol knows the team still has to adjust to playing without Joseph.
"I'll say it for the hundredth time: Any team in the league is going to miss Shalrie, and we certainly will," New England coach Steve Nicol said, according to the Boston Globe.
"Shalrie makes a huge difference to us or any other team. We have to try and make up for that. We have to find another way. The stuff that he brings we obviously don't have at the moment, so we have to find another way."

In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.
MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season. Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite.
